Eligibility Rules for Skaters
 
  1. All competition events are open to both amateur skaters and professional coaches.

  2. All competitors must be a current Individual Member or Associate Member of ISIAsia or ISI through August 17, 2008.

  3. All competitors must compete at their highest test level passed and all tests must be registered with ISIAsia in Hong Kong or ISI–USA by June 1, 2008 . Tests & memberships will be checked by ISIAsia and ISI-USA. Skaters will not be included in the event schedule if membership and tests are not current as of June 1 st

  4. All competitors must represent a current ISIAsia or ISI Administrative Member rink.

  5. Skaters in Pre-Alpha-Delta may not compete in Figure 1, Freestyle 1, Couple 1, or Pair 1. If the skater has passed any one of th ose tests, then the y can no longer compete in Pre-Alpha to Delta level events . Skaters below FS1 can participate in Ice Dance events (after passing the required Ice Dance tests) without having to pass the Delta test.

  6. Skating coaches, and members of other skating organizations are eligible and welcome to compete in the “Skate Asia 2008” competition as long as they are also current Individual or Professional Members of ISIAsia or ISI; they have their ISI tests passed and registered with ISIAsia or ISI-USA by latest June 1, 2008; and they represent an ISI member rink.

  7. All skaters are expected to compete at their true ability level and all coaches are expected to uphold high ethical standards.

  8. Each event will be divided by age groups according to entries received with no more than 9 entries in a group. Females and Males are separated in most technical events, but they may be combined in Artistic, Couples Spotlight, Family Spotlight, Footwork, Interpretive, Jump & Spin Teams, Solo Spotlight, Stroking , Solo Surprise, and all Team Events at the discretion of the Competition Director .

    This “ Skate Asia 2008” competition will use the first day of competition ( August 9, 2008) as the age cut-off date for grouping individual event skaters; and July 1, 2008 for all age groupings for all team event skaters.

  9. There will be a short warm-up period before each event – a 2-minute warm-up will be held for Solo Compulsories, Jump & Spin Teams, and all other Team Events. There is NO WARM-UP for Speedracing, Stroking, or Surprise events. NO BACKWARD ARABESQUES / SPIRALS are permitted during any warm-up for the safety of all skaters.

  10. Specific performance criteria for every competition event can be found in the 2008 edition of the ISI Skaters & Coaches Handbook and the 2008 Rule Revisions. It is the responsibility of the skater and coach to make sure they are up-to-date with the current rule revisions and event information. Please refer to the additional rule revision information (listed on this website) before preparing your competition programs to avoid unnecessary penalties or deductions.

  11. Individual medals will be awarded for 1 st – 6 th Place winners. All skaters not placing 1 st – 5 th will receive a 6 th Place medal. Overall Team Champion Trophies will be presented to each participating rink team.

  12. All events will be team point events. For all individual and partner events, 1 st Place skaters will earn 5 points for their rink team. For 2 nd Place, 4 points will be awarded. For 3 rd Place – 3 points, 4 th Place – 2 points, and 5 th Place – 1 point. In addition, each event entry will receive 1 team point for participation.

  13. For Kaleidoskate, Pattern, Production, Synchronized Teams, and Team Compulsory events: 1 st Place team winners will receive 25 team points; 2 nd Place – 20 points; 3 rd Place – 15 point; 4 th Place – 10 points; 5 th Place – 5 points. In addition, each team event entry will receive 5 team points for participation.

  14. All completed Entry Forms and payments (T/T wire transfers only) must be received by Sunway Pyramid Ice by latest JUNE 14, 2008 to avoid the double fee charges . COMPETITION ENTRY & TESTING DEADLINES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED . Late entries will only be accepted after approval of the Competition Director, and after the double fee payments are received.


    NO ENTRY FEE OR CHANGE FEE REFUND WILL BE GIVEN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

  15. Fill-out the entry forms carefully and completely including all required signatures. Any change from the original entry forms will be charged a change fee of USD$25 PER SKATER / PER CHANGE . These change fees must be received by Sunway Pyramid Ice before any changes are made in the Event Schedule.

  16. Please be sure to note your partner's name, age, & sex on your form if you are participating in Couples, Dance, Pairs, Couples Spotlight, Family Spotlight, or Jump & Spin events. Each partner skater must submit a separate entry form.
